About

The Problem

Today 2-3 students in every classroom have communication support needs (CSN).

In Denmark it is estimated that 1 out of 6, and as high as 1 out of 4 children, have significant difficulties communicating. In the UK and US, 1 out of 10 children are estimated to have difficulties. That is 2 to 3 students in every classroom and it is a problem that can affect a child’s ability to learn and can be challenging for their confidence in other social settings. These communication difficulties and needs are unique for each child and can range from severe disorders like stuttering to natural characteristics like being shy or bashful. And this makes it a real challenge for parents to identify or recognize these needs and difficult to recognize these challenges as real problems that need attention.

We need services designed to help parents improve their child’s communication skills. We need FUN online services designed for kids to improve and build confidence in their speech and language skills in a SAFE and MEANINGFUL environment.

The Solution

We can’t solve every speech or communication disorder, but we can all help to make it better.

Storytelling improves the language development of any and every child.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, we want to help kids put those words onto the pictures with their voices. VoiceBitz is the meeting place of creative voices and we want to make storytelling social and fun for all the creative voices of kids.

We want to create the first online storytelling platform designed for Parents and Teachers to help kids 8-12 improve speech and language skills. We are developing web and mobile voice-messaging games that support the home-school partnership for parents and teachers while providing more visibility into children’s language development.

The way kids connect to the world and discover new friends is changing and we want to make it a more meaningful connection through a social game of storytelling. Using pictures, encouragement, and acknowledgement we want to make a place for every child to tell their story.

TELL a story. JOIN a venture. START a rally.

Happier, healthier kids!

Hi, I’m Kevin, the founder of VoiceBitz – “my third child”.  I am an American Dad of two lovely Danish/American daughters, husband to my lovely Danish wife, volunteer youth basketball coach, and an old school hacker.  I have been programming since I was 10 (I am 41 as of this writing) and have always enjoyed copying code and making something all my own out of it – Yay for Open Source!  I have a vision to positively impact the youth through sports and technology. If you would like to know more about me then find me on LinkedIn or Follow me on Twitter.

Albert Einstein said “Imagination is more important than knowledge”.  Storytelling encourages Imagination and exercises Creativity.

At VoiceBitz, we are parents and we love the creative things that kids do!  I wanted to connect my daughters to my family in the US and to show them all the creative things that they did. Mostly I just wanted my daughters to learn that they could make a deeper connection online then just an occasional status update or quick pic of their feet.  I started tinkering with ideas for my daughters and then decided to make a social network for children where creative storytelling is the focus. Where sharing is everywhere. And where groove is in the heart!
VoiceBitz wants to empower all children’s voices through their stories in a safe and trusted social environment. Our priority is a fun place for kids to express their creative voices!

We need your help. Parents and family members can help support creativity now. Sign your kids up or Contact Us to find out more about the “CQ Fund”.

Parents, Teachers, and Schools

Teachers: We need you!

VoiceBitz is a social network that you can literally talk about.

Storytelling is older than writing as a form for sharing and interpreting our experiences and it helps us organize and remember information.
We teach and learn through storytelling and it is shown that the most effective learning takes place in social environments that provide us with real and authentic social cues about how the knowledge we gain is to be applied.

We are studying the benefits of storytelling in children’s social and educational networks. We are especially interested in games and activities designed to:

  • Encourage participation and active listening
  • Encourage discovery of cultural and inter-cultural experiences
  • Increase vocabulary and memory capacity
  • Improve speech and language skills

Improve speech and language skills of every child is our ultimate goal.
Over the next 5 years, VoiceBitz wants to help over 30 million kids in the Nordics and North America improve communication one classroom at a time! We are running projects to demonstrate how storytelling can help make happier, healthier kids and how we can build and provide a safe online community for children, but we need parents, teachers, and schools to help. You can help by building your child´s trusted network together with us.

We are an ongoing project so Sign up or Contact Us if you are interested in registering your class or school.
